Privacy Policy

Overview
This policy explains how Ego handles personal data.
Data we collect
We collect account information (such as email), content you store in the app, crash reports and diagnostics (always on, so we can find and fix crashes), usage data, and device data needed for sync, notifications, and security. We also keep a record of activity in the app: the changes made to your content and whether you or Your Ego made them, your conversations with the assistant and the steps it took (including the tools it used, the actions you approved or declined, and the AI model that responded), suggestions the app made and whether you kept, changed or dismissed them, and feedback you give, such as rating an answer.
How we use data
We use data to provide and improve Ego, sync your content, process subscriptions, respond to support requests, and keep the service secure. AI features may process content you submit according to your settings.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with service providers who help us operate Ego (hosting, analytics if enabled, payment processors via app stores) under contractual protections.
AI features and third-party model providers
When you use an Your Ego feature, the content needed to answer your request — your message, and the notes, tasks, events or other items the assistant is asked to work with — is sent to our backend and from there to a third-party model provider that generates the response. Ego currently uses OpenAI and, where configured, Anthropic, acting as our processors under contractual terms that prohibit them from using your content to train their models. Requests are transmitted over an encrypted connection and are not used to build advertising profiles.
AI features are optional. If you do not use them, your content is never sent to a model provider. Attachments you add to a chat, including images, are processed the same way. Reports you file about AI output or about another user’s content are stored for review and are not shared with the person reported.
Improving Ego’s AI
Ego uses the records described above to train, fine-tune and evaluate the AI models that power Ego’s own features, so the assistant gets better at working in the app for you. Models trained this way are used only to provide Ego. Where we use a provider’s infrastructure to train such a model, the provider acts as our processor, and the resulting model is used only for Ego. We never sell your data and never use it to train models for anyone else.
This is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy & security → “Help improve Ego’s AI”. When it is off, your data is not used for training or evaluation from that moment on, and data recorded while it was off is never used, even if you turn it back on later.
Health and fitness data is excluded unless you opt in. Body measurements, weight, food logs, training history and wearable data are used for model training only if you separately turn on “Include health & fitness data” in the same settings.
Before data is used for training, we remove direct identifiers such as email addresses and phone numbers. Each record of your choice notes which version of this policy it was made under. Deleting your account deletes these records, and a model training set that included them is never used again once your account is deleted.
Retention
We retain data while your account is active and as needed for legal, security, and backup purposes. You may request deletion by deleting your account or contacting us.
Your choices
You can control analytics, data collection and whether your data helps improve Ego’s AI (including health and fitness data, separately) in Settings → Privacy & security. Depending on your region you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data.
