How Ego protects your data.

A plain-language companion to our Privacy Policy.

On your device

Ego is local-first: your notes, tasks, events, and maps are stored on your device and stay usable there, whether or not you ever turn on sync. The database sits in Ego’s private app storage, which iOS and Android keep isolated from other apps, and it is covered by your device’s own full-disk encryption while the device is locked. Credentials and keys Ego holds are stored separately in the system Keychain / Keystore.

In transit and in the cloud

If you enable sync, your data is transmitted over TLS and stored with our cloud provider (Google Firebase). Access is isolated per user and enforced by server-side security rules — your data is readable by your account and no one else’s.

Your controls

You decide how much Ego shares and remembers:

AI and your data

AI requests are routed through our secure gateway — the app never hands your credentials to a model provider. In offline mode, supported AI features run entirely on-device: those requests never leave your phone.
